A total of 25 Ghanaians drawn from across the country, have received training on digital technological skills by the Ghana Tech Lab.
The 10-week training was to equip the youth with the skill set on how to set up their businesses in the technological environment and equally develop their business plans for job creation.
The 25 were assembled at a national incubation pitch day summit on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, out of which three were expected to emerge as top winners in a contest to be determined by judges .
The eventual winners, will receive financial support in terms of investment in their business and start up ideas for actualization.
It was under the theme : ” Digitizing Entrepreneurship For Job Creation Opportunities For The Ghanaian Youth “
Throwing more light on the incubation pitch to Journalists, the National Incubation Programme Lead, Mr Dickson Kojo Anane, indicated that the incubation is part of a base programme which has been designed by Ghana Tech Lab and been running for the past six months.
Last Wednesday’s pitching, he explained ,will see the three winners going home with cash start ups ranging between Ghc5,000 , Ghc3,000 and Ghc2000 in that order.
Although, only three will emerge as winners, Mr Kojo Anane revealed that there is hope for the other 22, many of whom were drawn from the Northern part of the country .
“ If you loose today it is not the end. They would be put together and a team will groom them because there are a lot of opportunities “, he noted.
“we also have another option for them which is the acceleration. Meaning that in the post incubation phase we are trying to ground their businesses by giving them further support “,he added .
It emerged, however, that sheanut startup , Mbamba Hadija won the incubation pitch.
Speaking on a panel discussion on the topic “ Startups Investment In Ghana”, an Analyst with Black Star Holdings, Ms. Rache lKotey advised the participants not to try and do everything all at once.
According to her, there is the need to start a business with a clear plan which in her words must be “ Investor ready “.
Contributing to the topic, a Financial and Investment Advisor with Truzt Venture Partners, Mr David Nuertey Tettteh, also expressed the view that the business environment requires being honest and taking advantage of the e- commerce market.
For his party, an Executive Assistant at the Ghana Legail Aid Commission , Mr Andrew Ntumi , encouraged the new startups to build contacts and connections , explaining that it is the order of the day for remaining in business.
