On Thursday, October 30, 2024, the Central Regional Minister, Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, warmly welcomed the National Science and Math Quiz (NSMQ) team of Swedru Secondary School in Cape Coast.
The visit was a proud moment for Mrs. Assan , an alumna of the school, as she congratulated the team for their impressive performance and successful advancement to the quarter-finals of the prestigious NSMQ competition which won them the which also won them the “most impressive run award “.
During the courtesy call, Mrs. Assan, expressed her joy at the team’s remarkable journey, commending both students and teachers, for their dedication and hard work.
She noted that their achievement was a testament to Swedru Secondary School’s long-standing commitment to excellence in science and mathematics education.
The Regional Minister, also took the opportunity to rally support for the school, calling on all old students to unite and contribute resources to strengthen the institution.
“This is the time for all of us to come on board to resource our alma mater, to ensure that Swedru Secondary School continues to excel in future competitions and academic endeavors,” she remarked.
The team, led by the Headmistress, Miss Golda Esi Andam and accompanied by some teachers, shared their experiences in the competition and received words of encouragement from the Minister.
She advised them to stay focused and determined as they prepare for the next stages of their lives, reminding them that their achievement is a source of pride for the entire Central Region.
The Minister donated a cash amount of GHS10,000 to the team for reaching the quarter finals of the competition, also to encourage them to push further in future competitions .
Mrs. Justina Assan’s reception and her support, have inspired the NSMQ team and the entire Swedru Secondary School community, reinforcing their resolve to achieve greater heights.
