The former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister under the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration, Joseph Yammin, has charged the former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Koku Anyidoho to account for the 100 bags of cement he received from Chairman Wontumi, Ashanti Regional Chairman of NPP to maintain the Asomdwe park.
Joseph Yammin’s demand, comes amidst reports that the Office of President, Jubilee has been doling out some cash to the ex-Director of Communications of the late President John Evans Atta Mills, who has been soliciting for cash from government agencies to “run his one-man Atta Mills Institute”.
Mention has been made of the National Security Secretariat through Col Michael Opoku, former Director of Operation in that outfit which is under the Office of the President, with a huge amount to upgrade the resting place of President John Evans Atta Mills.
Another government agency, Coastal Development Authority led by Jerry Ahmed Shaib, has also been mentioned as having financially supported Mills Institute to transform the Park into a tourist’s facility under the authority.
The latest government institution to give support to the Atta Mills Institute is the National Lotteries Authority (NLA) led by Sammie Awuku.
In all the instances, the sums of money received by the institute were not disclosed.
It is not clear, if anything is ongoing at the Asomdwe Park, a state-owned facility, and which contractor is executing the job and at what price.
Mr Anyidoho, who is 51 years, has been complaining bitterly on several occasions about how NDC and ex-President Mahama, who served as Vice-President to the late Atta Mills, have neglected the Asomdwe Park, after his death and burial.
Joseph Yammin, speaking in an interview with Pure FM’s Osei Kwadwo monitored by MyNewsGh.com, said NDC and ex-President Mahama, are focused and will never waste their time to discuss Koku Anyidoho.
According to him, “I remember when Koku Anyidoho was speaking on Fox FM about his intention to embark on maintenance work on Asomdwe park, Chairman Wontumi, called into the show and pledged to donate 100 bags of cement”.
“Koku Anyidoho, should know that late Professor Atta Mills became president of Ghana because of NDC. If not NDC, he wouldn’t have become president of Ghana.
Koku Anyidoho doesn’t love late Professor Mills more than John Dramani Mahama and NDC Yammin observed, “Where was Koku Anyidoho when some of us, including John Dramani Mahama were fighting and campaigning tirelessly for late Professor Atta Mills to lead the NDC as Flagbearer and Ghana as President. So far as we are not talking doesn’t mean Koku Anyidoho can continue to spread falsehood about NDC and Mahama”.
“Kwadwo, I don’t have time to discuss ‘betrayer’ Koku Anyidoho because I can use that time to campaign for the second coming of John Dramani Mahama and NDC, but when you get the opportunity to interview Koku Anyidoho, ask him to account for the 100 bags of cement Chairman Wontumi gave him to renovate Asomdwe park”.
Since the inauguration of the the John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage on Tuesday February 1, 2022, the Chief Executive Officer of the Atta Mills Memorial Institute, Koku Anyidoho, hit town taking on anyone who talks about preserving the legacy of ex-President Atta Mills, and how they thought that the newly created body led by Alex Segbefia, will do a better job.
Mr Anydoho, among other things, has cautioned the host of Good Evening Ghana, Paul Adom-Otchere, against criticizing the calibre of persons he uses for his events.
Anyidoho has warned Adom-Otchere, not to comment on his activities because he would fire back.
He rejected an argument from Adom-Otchere that John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress, are using ‘calibre’ to beat him to own the legacy of late President John Evans Atta Mills.
He cited the location for the inaugural ceremony of the Atta Mills Memorial Institute as a place where persons of calibre gather to hold deliberations on the country, but an angry Koku Anyidoho charged at Adom-Otchere, saying his argument of the institute lacking personnel of calibre was flawed because he has the attention of President Nana Akufo-Addo.
“I’m warning you, never do it again. You can do it to others, but don’t bring it to me. Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences, that is the intellectual dome of this republic and that is where we held our maiden events. When you talk about calibre, go to Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences. Go there and see the calibre of people who have held the position of president at Ghana Academy of Arts and Science.
“Secondly, if I can beg the president to build Asomdwe Park, what kind of calibre are you looking for again. Who is more important than the president? If I can beg the president and he will hear my plea and build Asomdwe Park, what sort of calibre are you looking for again,” he said on Okay FM.
Paul Adom-Otchere, on his show indicated that, former President John Dramani Maham,a is using some calibre of individuals who were perceived to be close to the late Prof John Evans Atta Mills to smash out Samuel Koku Anyidoho from the legacy of their former boss.
According to him, for John Dramani Mahama to achieve his ambition of becoming the next President of Ghana, he needs to deal with Koku Anyidoho, who has since the passing of Prof Mills, established the Atta Mills Institute to continue with the legacy of the late President.
He said, 2022 marks exactly 10 years of the passing of Prof Mills, and Koku Anyidoho has for the past 10 years articulated the vision and legacy of Prof Mills, therefore, his name has become synonymous with Prof Mills, so, in order to remove the ‘Anyidoho’ name from Prof Mills, Mahama has put together some ‘big’ names to launch a legacy project for Prof Mills.
“Everybody thinks of Mills and think of Koku Anyidoho and the Mahama people do not like that; so, they put together a plan, a very very interesting plan and that is why we say that they are removing the heritage of Mills from the clause of Koku Anyidoho and restore it unto the ivory tower,” Paul Adom-Otchere stated as part of his editorial on Good Evening Ghana.
Mr Anyidoho, later went after ex-President Mahama, saying the latter dislikes him over his refusal to collaborate with him in undermining the late former President John Evans Atta Mills.
According to him, he has not enjoyed a favorable relationship with the former president over the said development.
In a social media post, the former deputy general secretary of the NDC, questioned why John Dramani Mahama, did not allow his vice, the late Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, to undermine him as well when he assumed the reigns of the country.
Mr Anyidoho stressed that he did not have any regret for not supporting the plot of the former president. “I refused to support John Mahama to undermine Prez Atta-Mills; that is why he has hated me all these years. When John Mahama became President; did he allow Vice President Amissah-Arthur to undermine him? No! I have no regrets that JM did not get me to undermine Atta-Mills” he tweeted.
Following the launch of the John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage, Koku, went out describing those behind it as “thieves” over the colours they had sought to use in representing the group.
“Thieves!!! They are so INCOMPETENT!! They Stole the Green & White of the Atta-Mills Institute, and now running away to use blue because they have been badly exposed. They don’t know what colours to use. Tweaaaaa!!!!” Mr Anyidoho tweeted.
