Bawku: police, soldiers clash over seized silent pistols, ammunitions

There is an intense brawl between the leadership of the Ghana police services and the Ghana Armed Forces over seized two bronzy sophisticated silent pistols in Bawku.

 The arms were allegedly being transported in a land cruiser vehicle by Musah Nash and Wadut Ali Tingsoba, From Accra to Bawku. Interestingly, the suspects at the time of their arrest, were travelling under police guard.

A combined team of soldiers and officers of the National Investigations Bureau, through an Intel arrested the suspects who were almost entering Bawku from Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.

The suspects are said to be residing in Accra.

The escorting police officers were arrested alongside the two suspects. The Herald understands that the style of arrest sparked the brawl. The police are said to be furious that their officers were arrested alongside the suspects, hence their alleged refusal to process the suspects for court.

Sources told this outlet that, the matter has been transferred out of the jurisdictions of the Upper East Region to the headquarters of the Ghana police service and the Ghana armed forces.

As the differences are yet to be sorted out, the suspects are said to have been granted bail. They are per their bail condition to report daily to the offices of the National Investigations Bureau.

It is unclear, when the suspects will be arranged before court.

Government has been battling with the influx of sophisticated arms in the country.

Politicians, this paper is told, usually lobby to get suspects released when ever they are arrested relative to the Bawku conflict.
