The newly elected president of the Car Rentals Association of Ghana ( CRAG) , Mr Michael Sarpong, has promised to work towards the use of electric vehicles in Ghana .
He said the move will help eradicate fuel dependent vehicles which is the direction the world is moving towards.
According to him , a successful importation and introduction of the electric vehicles will as well bring to an end, the situation where emissions from fuel dependent vehicles poses cardiovascular health risk to the unsuspecting motorists and pedestrians
Speaking at his inaugural address after he was sworn into office on August 17, 2023 in Accra , Mr Sarpong, indicated the need to bring all members of the Car Rentals Association to be able to achieve this goal.
Not only is Mr Sarpong looking at introducing electric vehicles into the system, but also liaising with other sister associations abroad to pursue best interest of the car rental business and to attract more tourists to Ghana.
Mr Sarpong , whose tenure is four years, also promised to institute support packages for it members which will make it possible for them to import more cars for their business .
He said his administration will streamline the activities of its members in a way which will make them attractive to tourists and investors as a whole.
The dynamic president also hinted on doing a quarterly newsletter which will help promote the car rental industry from within Ghana to across the globe.
Mr Sarpong who is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of ‘The Michael Car Rentals ‘ promised to introduce an annual award scheme to honour hard working players in the industry.
