The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested three Nigerian nationals suspected of being members of a criminal syndicate behind a series of robberies targeting bank customers in Kumasi and surrounding communities.
The suspects, identified as Aboy Promise, 30, Favour Uwalaka, 45, and Kingsley, alias KC, 35, were arrested in separate operations following intelligence gathered by the police.

According to a police statement dated November 3, 2026, an IGP’s Special Team comprising personnel from the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit of the CID Headquarters and the Accra Regional Police Intelligence Directorate arrested Promise and Uwalaka at a hotel in Moshie Zongo on October 31.
A search of their rooms led to the recovery of GH¢1,600, assorted mobile phones, a Royal motorbike and a master key allegedly used to gain unauthorised access to victims’ vehicles and steal cash.
Police said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects monitored banking premises, identified customers who withdrew substantial amounts of money and followed them before attacking and robbing them.

The syndicate was also alleged to have broken into unattended vehicles belonging to bank customers using a master key to steal cash kept inside.
During interrogation, the two suspects reportedly admitted their involvement in the robberies and mentioned two accomplices, Chinedu, alias Alhaji, and Kingsley, alias KC.
The police subsequently arrested Kingsley at another hotel in Dechemso, a suburb of Kumasi, after the suspects led investigators to his location.

Chinedu, who is also suspected of being involved in the operations, remains at large, with the police appealing to the public for information that could lead to his arrest.
The suspects reportedly admitted robbing a victim of GH¢15,000 at Asokore Mampong on October 27, 2026, after the victim had withdrawn money from Kwamang Rural Bank.
They also admitted to similar robberies at the Atonsu branch of Fidelity Bank, the Ahodwo branch of Access Bank and other locations within Kumasi and its environs.

The three arrested suspects have since been handed over to the Ashanti Regional Police Command and are assisting with investigations.
The police have urged bank customers to remain vigilant around banking premises and avoid leaving cash or other valuables unattended in vehicles.
