A flagbearer aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Kwabena Duffuor, has promised to replicate the ultra modern headquarters building of the party across the regions, if he becomes President.

He said, his personal involvement in mobilizing funds to build the current NDC headquarters at Adabraka is something he wants to repeat when he becomes President

Dr Duffuor, who was a Finance Minister under the late former President John Evans Atta Mills, said although there was no money at the time they took power in 2009 , he was able to raise funds for the headquarters.

Many of the things he did in support of the party’s growth, according to him were not made public.

Making this revelation yesterday, however,  after filing his nomination to contest for the flagbearer slot of the party slated for May 13 , this year, Dr Duffuor, stressed that giving the party  buildings in all the regions,  will give it a strong foundation.

“ I believe there should be a strong foundation for the party before going into the 2024 elections “, he indicated

For him , the contest to become a flagbearer and subsequently President is not about his interest, but restoring hope  and national pride of the country which is targeted at creating jobs.

“ The task ahead is huge but I have managed such situation before in the past  where we grew the economy to become the fastest growing economy in the world in.2011 “, he recalled.

According to him , domestic resource  revenue mobilization, will be his focus

Referring to the current General Secretary of the NDC,  Franklin Fiifi Kwetey, who was his deputy at the Ministry of Finance, Dr Duffuor, said it was a messy situation when they took power , but they were able to turn fortunes of the country around which saw to a single digit inflation for  32 months among many other achievement, including the value of the dollar against the Cedi appreciating by only 60peses was in the entire four years.

All these skills, he noted are intact for him to turn things around when he becomes the president.

He used the occasion to caution against insults and called on his supporters not to engage in any such thing explaining that it is an in-house contest.

The General Secretary of the NDC, Fiiffi Kwetey on his part, thanked Dr Duffuor for running a clean campaign.

He assured him of ensuring that there will be an equal playing field,  in order for all the aspirants to  feel satisfied with the outcome.
