Eno Ofori-Atta, an in-law of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has been moved to the Agricultural Development Bank plc (ADB) as its new deputy managing director after five years as the group managing director of SIC-Financial Services, which The Herald widely reported on.
Her appointment which took effect, from December 1, 2022, is seen by many as a continuation of the naked nepotism, which the Akufo-Addo government has been unashamed about.
She is the wife of Earl Ofori –Atta, a direct brother of the Finance Minister.
The Herald’s information is that both Earl and Eno, used to work at Ken’s Databank Financial Services, many years ago.
She will assist the managing director to provide strategic leadership and direction for the bank to remain among the top-tier banks in Ghana while maintaining its core focus on agricultural financing.
Eno Ofori-Atta is an accomplished professional with over 15 years of experience in banking and financial services, providing strategic leadership, creating high-performance teams across business units and functioning at various levels.
She has vast experience in driving business growth, credit administration, risk management, human capital management, the development of business systems, strategic planning and strengthening of internal control systems and processes.
Before her appointment, Eno for five years was the group managing director of SIC-Financial Services, where she led the redefinition of business strategy, transformation programmes and operational improvements.
She is a former chief executive officer of Payflex Microfinance Company and former chief risk officer of the defunct Women’s World Banking Ghana.
Payflex Microfinance Company, is also believed to be defunct.
She is reported to have served in various leadership roles, including branch operations manager, head of administration and human resources, head of risk and head of credit operations.
Eno is a product of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where she obtained both a Master’s in Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts degrees in social sciences (law and sociology).
Commenting on the appointment, the ADB managing director, Alhassan Yakubu Tali, congratulated her on the appointment and said: “Eno brings to the fore a very rich banking experience which will immensely benefit the growth of the bank.”
