The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), has expressed a renewed interest in the affairs of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (GARH), formerly known as Ridge Hospital.
This development, follows recent media exposés involving the prominent government health facility.
Sources within EOCO, have disclosed that the investigative body is preparing to revive a previously shelved case concerning a senior official in the hospital’s Surgical Department.
EOCO, had earlier commenced investigations into suspected cases of theft and/or extortion of patients at the facility between January and December 2023.
The probe implicated certain members of staff and a private company, Staraid Care Limited. However, the case was abruptly suspended without any clear explanation.
According to the sources, the current leadership at EOCO is determined to get to the bottom of the matter, which was originally initiated on 24 July 2024.
A letter signed by Abdulsi Bashire Daphiah, who was then Deputy Executive Director in charge of Operations at EOCO, was addressed to the former Medical Director of the hospital, requesting cooperation in the investigation.
Ridge Hospital, has once again made headlines for negative reasons, amid what appears to be a coordinated attempt to discredit the current Medical Director of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Rev. Dr Ralph Armah, who has pledged to root out corruption within the institution.
