A female, has won the overall best student award at the maiden graduation of the Academic City University College at the school ‘s campus at Haatso in Accra over the weekend.
Elizabeth Fio , who is an engineering student, also bagged in three other awards. They include, the President of the school’s award, the legacy and the best mechanical engineering awards.
She told Journalists the journey has been good and bad in the sense that she earlier did not know what she was studying, until the collaboration and her observation of the programme opened her up to knowing a lot.
For her , the knowledge she has acquired, is going to help her compete and excel in the male dominated environment of mechanical engineering.
Established in 2009, the Academic City University runs programmes in Communications, Business Administration, Information Technology and Computational Sciences.
This first graduates , who are 35 in number, took Bachelor of Arts Degree programmes in these programmes.
They were awarded certificates from the University of Cape Coast and University of Mines and Technology , located in Tarkwa in view of its affiliation.
The President of the Academic City University College , Prof. Fred. McBagonluri, indicated that the school stands out in the sense that, it is the first academic institution that teaches robotics , artificial intelligence and computer science engineering which is needed more than ever in solving most problems of today.
These programmes , he indicated have prepared the students to solve most of Africa’s problems which requires innovation and practicality in a chosen field of work.
Among the graduates is Fafa Kayi,who is the daughter of ace broadcast Journalist, Kwame Sefa Kayi.
