The Chief Executive Producer of Highly Spiritual Music, David Kojo Kyei, popularly known as Kaywa has shared what has kept him going for over 20 years in the music production industry.
Speaking in an interview on 3FM’s Showbiz 927, hosted by Caleb Nii Boye, the music producer shared how things started with regard to his music-producing career.
“I started in 1998. I remember the day I started in my father’s boy’s quarters, I started producing beats,” he reminisced.
When asked what kept him in the game for that long, he stated that “Passion and the love for what I do. I believe that God always has a place in what is our passion. If it is good, God has a place in it every time. So it’s always the passion. I have been weary and tired but the passion keeps us going.”
Having been in this space for a long time, Kaywa plans on coming back stronger by rebranding himself. He shares some of the platforms he was awarded on for his work.
“Like I said, I’m thinking about revamping and coming hard as the producer you have always. I started with some people but by the grace of God, I’m still here. Just last year, I was awarded producer of the year. I think it was PraiseTV awards. The following year, it was Ghana Music Awards in the UK,” he mentioned.
Switching a little bit, Kaywa talks about outdooring Gospel artistes from his label. He admitted that he is aware of the questions all over the place concerning why as a minister of God he had no Gospel artiste on his label. He calls on all these people to relax.
“There’s a new face of Gospel artistes. For lack of a better word, I call them Christian artistes emanating from Highly Spiritual Music very soon and when it comes, you’ll understand. I know you guys are talking but calm down,” he said.
