The Assembly Members of the Greater Accra Region, have expressed their heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama, for his consistent dedication to the betterment of local governance in Ghana.

In a statement released by the group, the Assembly Members, highlighted Mahama’s promise to pay allowances to local representatives, a commitment made in 2020 and reaffirmed in 2024, as a significant step towards strengthening the role of Assembly Members in community development.

The statement emphasized that Mahama’s promise, now included in the 2025 national budget, underscores his understanding of the challenges facing local government structures and his commitment to empowering them. Unlike many politicians, Mahama has demonstrated a genuine effort to fulfill his campaign promises, particularly in recognizing the importance of Assembly Members in the nation’s governance process.

“This promise is a clear demonstration of His Excellency’s respect and value for the vital work that Assembly Members do in their communities,” the statement read. “His actions go beyond words; they reflect a deep understanding of the needs of local governments and the dedication to seeing them thrive.”

The Assembly Members expressed confidence that this move would not only motivate them to work harder for their respective districts but also improve the delivery of essential services and governance across the country.
