Ghanaian agricultural exporters are seeking to secure new business opportunities in Switzerland as selected buyers from the European country begin a five-day sourcing mission aimed at connecting them with local suppliers.
The mission brings together Swiss buyers and Ghanaian businesses producing premium agricultural and value-added products, with activities including visits to supplier facilities and engagements with institutions supporting international trade.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) in charge of Administration and Operations, Ambrose Edwin Nsarkoh, welcomed the delegation and described the mission as an opportunity to strengthen Ghana’s position as a supplier of quality products to international markets.
He said the initiative aligned with the government’s Accelerated Export Development Programme (AEDP), which seeks to expand non-traditional exports, create jobs, increase foreign exchange earnings and open new markets for local businesses.
The engagement is expected to provide Swiss buyers with first-hand exposure to Ghana’s agribusiness sector and export capacity while allowing local exporters to establish business relationships with potential international partners.
Representatives of the Swiss Embassy in Ghana, the International Trade Centre (ITC), the Ghana-Switzerland Chamber of Commerce and other stakeholders in the export value chain attended the opening event.
GEPA said it remained committed to facilitating market access and building international trade partnerships to increase the global reach of Ghanaian products.
