Akuapem Traditional Council hands over authority to Okuapehene after Gazette

The Akuapem Traditional Council has handed over authority to Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III to assume the role of President of the council after a successful gazette by the National House of Chiefs.

A traditional ceremony has been performed to hand over power and authority of President of Akuapem Traditional Council to Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, Okuapehene following his gazette by the National House of Chiefs on October 5,2022.

Aburihene also the Adontenhene of Okuapeman Otoobour Djan Kwesi acted as President of the Council for the past seven years during the protracted Chieftaincy dispute.

Otoobour Djan Kwesi (iii) assured that efforts are underway to ensure reconciliation and unity with the feuding faction led by the Queenmother Nana Obuo Nketiaa by the end of this year.

Speaking at the ceremony, Oseadeeyo expressed gratitude to the Aburihene for holding forth the mantle for the Traditional Council over the years.

Oseadeeyo also called for unity to stimulate development.

The Eastern Regional Minister Seth Kwame Acheampong urged the traditional Council to facilitate unity and maintain peace to boost the tourism potential of Okuapeman for development.

Some division chiefs present also reiterated the need for peace to prevail in the area.

Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III and Akwamuhene Odeneho Kwarfo Akoto are expected to be sworn into the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs on Thursday, October 20, 2022.
