President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to pursue an economic development agenda that ensures Ghana’s natural resources deliver greater benefits to its citizens, while reaffirming his commitment to the Pan-Africanist ideals championed by the country’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

Speaking during an engagement with Ghanaians in Moscow, Russia, Mr Mahama said African unity and the pursuit of Ghana’s national interest would remain central to his leadership.

Reflecting on Dr Nkrumah’s legacy, the President said he considers himself part of the generation of African leaders the former President envisaged would carry forward his vision of Pan-Africanism.

He reaffirmed his belief that Ghana must take greater advantage of its natural resource wealth to drive economic transformation and improve the lives of its people.

Mr Mahama’s remarks underscore his emphasis on resource-driven development and African unity as key pillars of his administration’s vision.
