The Tema Regional Fire Commander, Assistant Chief Fire Officer II (ACFO II) Patrick Sallah, has conducted an inspection of the Tema Community One Market, following a fire outbreak which affected eight shops on Monday night.
The visit, formed part of efforts by the Ghana National Fire Service to assess the level of fire safety preparedness at the market and to identify any gaps in infrastructure and emergency response systems.

During the inspection, ACFO II Sallah and his team, evaluated access routes within the market, examined the location and functionality of fire hydrants, and interacted with some traders and market authorities to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following the Tema Community One Market visit, the team proceeded to the Ashaiman New Market, also known as the Nii Adzor Market, to inspect the ongoing construction works.
The visit aimed to ascertain whether the contractor had adhered to the safety standards and protocols laid down by the Fire Service.

The inspection, forms part of a broader strategy to enhance fire safety in public spaces, particularly in market centres that are often prone to fire outbreaks, due to high human activity and poor electrical installations.
