SSNIT Boss, overall best CEO for 2021

The Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Dr John Ofori-Tenkorang, has been adjudged the Overall Best Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the year 2021.

This is in recognition of the achievements chalked by the Trust since his appointment. The Award was conferred on him during the 12th Ghana Entrepreneur and Corporate Executive Awards organised by the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFG) last Saturday in Accra.

The occasion was used to honour and celebrate successful business entrepreneurs and corporate leaders making significant impact in the use of digital technology to improve service delivery.

Currently, the Trust is considered as one of themost transparent and client-focused public institutions in the country.

Key among Dr Ofori-Tenkorang’s achievements are saving the Scheme a total of GH¢235 million in the past four years by withholding pensions of Pensioners above 72 years who have not renewed their Pensioner Certificates, the smooth roll-out of the SSNIT-NIA numbers merger, among others.

Under his leadership, the Trust has seen a reduction in processing time and payment of pensions from 47 days in 2016 to 10 working days.

Also, the net assets of SSNIT has seen an increase from GHS8.41 billion as at December 2016 to GHS11.30 billion as at November 2021, representing a growth of 34.36percent.

Briefing the media after the event, Dr Ofori-Tenkorang, expressed gratitude to the organisers of the awards for recognising the Trust’s efforts in the digital transformation agenda.

“Digitisation is a key cornerstone in the things we do in the administration of pensions. Currently, we send quarterly electronic Statements of Account to our Members and Clients to enable them have easy access to their statements. We are also about to roll out a whole new operational system that will make it convenient for people to transact business with us”, he said.

Dr Ofori-Tenkorang, expressed gratitude to the Board, Management and staff of SSNIT for supporting his vision to improve the image of the Trust, adding that the recognition would spur the Trust on to greater success.

In all, 32 individuals from private and corporate sectors were recognised and honoured during the event.

 The Vice President, H. E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumiah, won the Outstanding Digital Transformation Leader, whereas the Founder and CEO of SAS Financial Group Ltd, Togbe Afede XIV, was adjudged Greatest Entrepreneur of all Time, among other awardees.
