The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) has engaged a delegation from the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) on establishing a pathway for qualified Ghanaian nurses to secure employment in the territory’s healthcare system.

The engagement, led by GEA Chief Executive Officer, Margaret Ansei, was held at the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment.

Discussions focused on developing a regulated framework to guide the recruitment and placement of Ghanaian nurses, with emphasis on transparent recruitment processes, clear professional standards and institutional safeguards to protect the rights and welfare of nurses working abroad.

The proposed framework is also expected to create opportunities for skills exchange and international exposure for Ghanaian healthcare professionals.

The GEA said it is working to establish institutional systems that connect Ghanaian professionals with credible international employment opportunities while supporting the country’s broader human capital and workforce development objectives.
