…….At GIPA’s November Investment Summit
President John Dramani Mahama is expected to take centre stage as Ghana prepares to host two major business and investment events aimed at attracting investors, promoting economic transformation and celebrating outstanding corporate achievements.
The Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA), headed by Simon Madjie, has announced the 2026 Invest Ghana Summit, scheduled for November 16 and 17 at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra, followed by the 22nd edition of the prestigious Ghana Club 100 Awards on November 18 at the Palms Convention Centre.
The events, which form part of efforts to position Ghana as a competitive investment destination, will bring together government officials, business executives, investors, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to explore opportunities within the country’s evolving economic landscape.
This year’s Invest Ghana Summit will be held under the theme, “Investing in Ghana’s New Economy: Building a Productive Economy that Creates Value and Competes Globally.”
The theme reflects the government’s ambition to transform Ghana’s economy from one heavily dependent on raw material exports into a productive, industrialized and globally competitive economy.
The summit is expected to provide a platform for discussions on investment opportunities, industrial development, economic diversification, job creation and partnerships between the public and private sectors.
Among the prominent government officials featured in the summit’s publicity materials are the Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson; the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare; and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
Their participation is expected to highlight the government’s economic priorities, investment policies and strategies for attracting both domestic and foreign capital into critical sectors of the economy.
The summit, promoted under the slogan “Discover, Connect, Grow,” is also expected to create opportunities for investors to establish strategic partnerships and engage with policymakers on Ghana’s business environment.
The programme comes at a time when the Mahama administration is pursuing an ambitious economic transformation agenda, including plans to mobilize approximately US$2 billion annually over five years to support investments in selected productive sectors.
The proposed US$10 billion investment programme is intended to strengthen domestic production, reduce import dependence, create employment opportunities and enhance Ghana’s competitiveness in international markets.
Sectors expected to benefit from the government’s economic transformation agenda include agriculture and agribusiness, textiles and garments, pharmaceuticals, tourism and other industries with significant potential for value addition.
The summit is therefore expected to provide an opportunity for government officials to explain how private investors can participate in these initiatives.
Following the two-day investment summit, attention will shift to the 22nd edition of the Ghana Club 100 Awards, one of the country’s prominent corporate recognition platforms.
Organized by the GIPA, the awards ceremony will celebrate Ghana’s leading businesses and recognize companies that have demonstrated strong performance, competitiveness, and contributions to national economic development.
This year’s ceremony will be held under the theme, “Celebrating Ghana’s Business Leaders”.
The Ghana Club 100 initiative recognizes outstanding companies operating in Ghana, providing a platform to celebrate corporate excellence, encourage healthy competition, and promote best business practices.
Over the years, the initiative has become an important feature of Ghana’s corporate calendar, attracting leading figures from the banking, manufacturing, telecommunications, mining, insurance, energy and other sectors.
The awards also provide an opportunity to highlight the role of private enterprise in employment creation, revenue generation, innovation and national development.
The inclusion of President Mahama’s endorsement of the two events underscores the prominence being given to the government’s investment and private-sector development agenda, although the materials do not specify his formal role at either programme.
The publicity materials identify several public institutions and private organisations supporting the programmes.
Among the institutions featured are the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) and the Ghana Free Zones Authority.
The events also have the backing of corporate organisations operating across various sectors of the economy.
Among the companies and institutions featured in the promotional materials are Gold Fields, Zijin, Kasapreko Company Limited, Guinness Ghana, Advans Ghana, Mohinani Group, Coca-Cola and PayAngel.
Several media organizations, including The Herald, have also been identified as media partners for the events.
The participation of these organizations reflects the importance of collaboration between government, investors, corporate institutions and the media in advancing Ghana’s economic development objectives.
For the GIPA, the two programmes offer an opportunity to showcase Ghana’s investment potential while recognizing companies already contributing to the country’s economic growth.
They are also expected to reinforce the message that sustained economic transformation will require a stronger private sector, improved investment conditions and policies that encourage local production and value addition.
With Ghana seeking to attract new investment and expand its industrial base, the November events are expected to generate discussions on the practical measures needed to translate government policies into business opportunities, sustainable employment and economic growth.
The Invest Ghana Summit will take place on November 16 and 17 at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, Accra, while the Ghana Club 100 Awards will follow on November 18 at the Palms Convention Centre.
