The departure of Diego Costa two years ago has seen Chelsea struggle for goals for some time now. The likes of Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata have not been able to fill that void but despite that, one main reason why Chelsea have still found their way in front of goal is Eden Hazard.
Known for his speed, dribbling, creativity and excellent pass vision, the Chelsea left winger has been Chelsea’s source of creativity and goals this season in particular.
It’s no surprise that he is being touted as one of the best footballers in the world alongside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
His skills, vision and ambition has seen him win numerous titles with Chelsea such as the Epl title (×2), Europa league (×1),Fa cup (×1), and Carabao cup (× 1). His brilliance has also won him some individual awards such as the PFA players’ player of the year, PFA young player, FWA footballer of the year, FIFA Pro XI, UEFA team of the year and many more. This is prove that he is Chelsea’s oxygen and undoubtedly the best player in the Premiership.
Eden Hazard this season, thus 2018/2019, has been directly involved in 49% of Chelsea’s goals, scoring 16 and providing 13 assists which means he’s been involved in 29 goals this season. With this stats, it is clear that he is the most influential goal maker in the Premier league this season. His goal tally for Chelsea this season, is level with his second title – winning campaign in 2016/2017 with Antonio Conte.
After seven consistent seasons at the Bridge, and with a year left on his contract, Chelsea are in a battle to convince Eden Hazard the ‘Little Wizard’ to stay by extending his contract.
Eden Hazard wants to start a new capture in his footballing career by going to Real Madrid. Having ZinedineZidane, his idol as the current Madrid boss, it is very difficult for Chelsea to keep the talented Belgian.
Hazard in Chelsea has provided some dazzling match-winning displays against teams Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Arsenal, West ham you can go on and on and on. These performances are performances that forever stay in the memories of Chelsea fans.
When a player like Eden Hazard leaves Chelsea, the question is, who is going to provide the moment of magic to win games for Chelsea? With this current squad, it’seasy to say that, it will be very difficult. The likes of Hudson-Odoi,Pulisic, Willian, Pedro or even Giroud will not be able to provide that element of magic Eden Hazard brings in games for Chelsea.
With Chelsea also facing a transfer window ban, how is Chelsea going to cope without their star man?
Finally, life after Hazard I think would be much easy if Maurizio Sarri makes this current squad master the ‘Sarri ball’ style of play and by that, there will be no need to overly rely on one player to produce magic to win games. A typical example is Pep Guardiola’s Man City who play with so much speed and directness without having to rely on one player because of how much they’ve mastered the style of play.
