Prof. Mike Oquaye loses wife

Late Major rtd Alberta Oquaye

The immediate past Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Michael Aaron Oquaye Sr, has lost his wife of several years.

News of the death of Major Rtd. Alberta Adwoa Boatemaa Oquaye, was announced by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ghana Free Zones Authority and former Ghana’s High Commissioner to India, Mike Oquaye Jnr.

Mrs. Oquaye, a retired Nursing Officer at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, according to her son, died in the early hours of Saturday, 5 March 2023.

While announcing the demise of his beloved mother, Mike Oquaye Jr, took to Facebook and requested prayers for his almost 79-year old dad, himself and the rest of the family.

He wrote “it is with deep sorrow that I have to convey the news of the sudden passing of our mother;

Maj. Rtd. Alberta Adwoa Boatemaa Oquaye.

“Let us All kindly pray for her Husband and our father Rt.Hon. Prof. Oquaye, her son Ambassador Mike Oquaye Jnr and the entire family.

The devastated Mike Oquaye Jr, had initially written, *SAD NEWS SAD NEWS SAD NEWS*

“With a heavy and a troubled heart I wish to inform the entire Constituents of the sudden demise of the wife of the former Speaker of Parliament Right Honourable Rev. Prof. Michael Aaron Oquaye Sr. which occurred in the early hours of today the 4th of March, 2023 in the year of our Lord.

We will miss Mrs Alberta Oquaye (Major Rtd. Nurse)

“Details of the one week celebration and the final funeral rites will be announced in due course.

We therefore entreat all to send their heart felt messages to the bereaved family.

May her pure soul Rest in Perfect Peace.
