Prof Jane Opoku Agyeman and central regional executives mourn with the people of Apimanin Traditional area

Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman together with the Central Regional Executives of the NDC attended the Royal funeral of the late Barima Kwame Nkyin XII, the Paramount Chief of Apimanin Traditional Area at Assin Manso.

 The delegation was warmly received by the royal family and the people of Assin Apimanim. The visit follows an invitation by a delegation from the Traditional Council inviting John Dramani Mahama, who could not attend owing to other pressing matters.   

Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman, was at the funeral to represent the John Dramani Mahama  and to express his condolences to the Chiefs and people of Assin Apimanim. She recounted her memories with the late Chief whom she described as her father, teacher and a friend. She encouraged the Chiefs to continue sharing and teaching the history of their people.

The late Barima Kwame Nkyi XIII (1926-2016) had a distinguished public service career as a Civil servant prior to becoming a chief. He also served in various roles during the PNDC and NDC regimes including;

Member of the Board of Central Regional Development Corporation, now CEDECOM (1976-1980)

Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman and the Regional Executives also took the opportunity to fraternize with party faithfuls who had thronged the event to meet them. They encouraged everyone to forge ahead in unity till the NDC emerges victorious at the polls in 2024.

She was accompanied by the Regional Chairman, Prof. Richard Asiedu, Vice Chairman Hon. Ekow Panyin, Regional Organizer Mr. Mike Derry and his Deputy Cde Joseph Mensah Abaka, Regional Secretary Cde Gabriel Nii Commey Adams and his Deputy Cde Eric Offei, the Regional Treasurer Madam Victoria Pobee Woode and her Deputy Cde Isaac Abbey, the Womens Organiser Madam Faustina Lamptey and her Deputies Nhyira Dadzie and Janet Quansah, Regional Communications Officer Gabriella Tetteh and her Deputy Kweku Arko, the Regional Zongo coordinator Cde Abdulai Amo, the Deputy Regional Youth Organizers Ebenezer Abeiku Essien and Prince Gyamfi Mensah.

The delegation was hosted by the Constituency Executives of Assin South, with support from Assin Central.
