Zoomlion Ghana Limited Climax 10 Years Anniversary In Sunyani

Zoomlion Company Limited (ZCL), has renovated the administration block of Sunyani Municipal Hospital as part of activities to mark the 10th Anniversary celebration of the company in Ghana.

The company reformed the OPD department, as well as painting and replacement of all mosquito proof nets at the wards.

At the handing over ceremony, the Operations Manager of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mrs. Emah Akyea-Boakye, impressed upon the corporate organizations to fulfill their Social Corporate Responsibilities (CSR) to benefit the society.

According to her, corporate institutions are established to facilitate support to the society to make lives better and to reduce the huge unemployment situation in the country.

She said, Zoomlion, would continue to make the community feel its presence by eradicating filth and reducing unemployment.

Receiving the renovated administration block, Dr.Helena Alabono, who is an Acting Medical Superintendent of the hospital, made known that the hospital is 89 years, but has not seen any major rehabilitation.

This situation according to her, has created huge infrastructural challenges with the resultant effect on quality healthcare delivery.
Continuing she said, the increasing competitive demand on the central purse, has made it impossible for government alone to meet the health aspirations of the citizenry, and therefore called on the masses to join hands to support the hospital to improve on the care given to the clients.

The Medical Superintendent, specified that the central location of the Sunyani municipal hospital, coupled with good care to the clients, makes the hospital a destination of choice for primary level healthcare in the municipality.

She further added that, the beautification of the administration block, could not be misconstrued to mean that, it would bring about efficiency in the discharge of health service delivery to the masses of the people.

Meanwhile, at an Official lectures at the Eusbett Hotel, the Deputy Brong Ahafo regional Minister, Justice Samuel Adjei, affirmed that one of the greatest challenges which has militated against smooth and effective waste management operations in Ghana was the inadequacy of appropriate equipment.

Mr Justice Adjei, said it was indisputably that due to the huge financial commitment that goes into securing trucks and other heavy machinery needed in the operations of waste management industry, the situation has clearly shown profound consequences on the purity of Ghana’s environment and the health of its people in the past.

He asserted that, successive governments have found it a daunting task to devote substantial portions of the country’s insufficient resources to the acquisition of sufficient and appropriate trucks and machinery for the effective management of the huge volumes of waste generated in the towns and cities daily.

It is in the wake of this that, the government has ceded some waste management operations to the private sector in order to encourage private sector participation in the waste management sector.

And for this reason, the government, has continued to repose trust and confidence in Zoomlion as a worthy and effective partner in the fight against waste in all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the country.

He said the government and the people of Ghana have confidence in the company and are expecting to lead the country to attain the sustainable development goals number six ( SDG 6 ).

At the Dinner and Awards Night section of the Anniversary which honored Prestigious People in the region, many people converged at the forecourt of the Eusbett International conference centre including the Regional Leadership of Zoomlion Ghana limited, Representative of the Queen of sunyani traditional area, Businessman and entrepreneur Mr. Sam Bennett, Representative of some District Assemblies, staff of Zoomlion Ghana, Municipal Chief Executive for Sunyani, Kwasi Oppong Ababio, who was the special guest of honor.

In a speech delivered by the representative of Nana Yaa Nyamaa Poduo touched on the need for the assemblies to strictly enforce the sanitation bye-laws.

While the Municipal Chief Executive Kwasi Oppong Ababio commended the Zoomlion Ghana Limited for their handwork exhibited for the past decade.

The MCE passionately spoke on the need to be humble and submissive as he told a short story about the CEO of Zoomlion Ghana and the fact that, the man is a worthy man and command a lot of respect, but yet still he is very humble and discipline.
Kwasi Oppong, said the assemblies are doing their best in enforcing the sanitation bye-laws but however stated the need for all stakeholders to collaborate with the city authorities in ensuring that this is achieved and Sunyani continuous to be the cleanest city in Ghana.

The awarding segment of the programme saw a lot of people been awarded for their tremendous contributions towards zoomlion Ghana and sanitation management in the region.

Some of the awardees were the Municipal chief executive for Sunyani, Kwasi Oppong Ababio, Yaw Brenya, Assembly member for sunyani area 2, Mr. Sam Bennett, Businessman and entrepreneur among others.

The event also saw some activities, including pick and arts, dancing competition and jokes telling.

meanwhile, at the thank giving service to climax a weeklong celebration, the Board Chairman of Zoomlion Company Limited in the Brong Ahafo Region, Ing- Dr. Eric Antwi Ofosu, noted that the company have distributed about six thousand dustbins in the region to ensure healthy environment.

He called for intensive community education on how to handle the hazardous waste which includes the hospital waste and proper management of electronic waste such as bulbs which contains mercury and batteries to guarantee save public health.

Dr. Antwi Ofosu, noted that zoomlion has introduced a decentralization policy to strengthen the company in a regional level and to develop the entrepreneur abilities within the workers.

He admitted that even though there are few challenges with the waste management in the region including the lack of engineered land fill which is not healthy for the environment but the company is working towards achieving one in a short possible time.

The PhD Water Resources Engineering personnel said because of the climate change situation in the country there are measures underway to establish an in-net landfill to avoid generation of greenhouse gas.

The company intends recycle the biodegradable and turn it into gas for energy and also for compose before it goes to the landfill and then becomes inactive as a means of unravel the climate change dilemma.

He created public awareness about the company’s intentions to effective recycling of waste and has established a recycling plant at the landfill to start with the plastic waste management and the gesture would lend a hand to eliminate the indiscriminate fling of waste plastic anyhow.

At the thanksgiving service ceremony to climax the feast of the company, the head Pastor of the Church of Pentecost at Duayaw Nkwanta Pastor Samuel Larbi explained that the works of zoomlion is similar to medical practitioners.

He called on the public to refrain from belittling the workers of Zoomlion company limited, because cleanliness like a proverbial statement is next to Godliness.

According to Pastor Larbi, the workers of the company should not work purposely unto man but as to the Lord. He congratulated the company for doing God’s work and therefore heavenly father would reward them immensely.

On behalf of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mrs. Esther Abayeta, the Acting Brong Ahafo Regional Manageress, elucidated that due to the hard work of Zoomlion in the region, malaria and cholera cases have reduced to the barest minimum.
She indicated the final disposal site in Sunyani is proper sterile site for healthy waste management.

Due to the uphill struggle of the company, in 2007 Sunyani, emerged the cleanest city in the country.

She called on the general populace to segregate high level of indiscipline towards the indiscriminate dispose of filth and called for strict enforcement of the sanitation bye-laws.
