Three Claims Surrounding His Death As Wa Police Go Missing
The shocking death of the 29-year old aide to Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the running mate of the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP), has sparked several conspiracy theories within the Ghanaian political landscape, including claims of a ritual murder.
There are conflicting reports on the young, humble and affable Kobina Boadu’s death in Wa, about three weeks ago. All of the reports on this high prolife death, had not come from the police, but the NPP sources. Several weeks, have passed and it is still unclear, whether Wa police is investigating the cause of this sudden death.
So far, three causes of death, have been mentioned by the NPP sources, who are mostly unnamed. This has left room for the wild claim been made that the Bawumia Campaign, which for the past 6 months has been based in the three Northern Regions, shuffling between Wa, Bolgatanga and Tamale, but without any impact, is seeking sympathy votes from the death.
The death, took place after the party’s Upper West Regional rally in the capital, Wa.
While, the initial report had claimed, he was electrocuted in his hotel room, some have said, he was found motionless in a bath, inside his hotel room after calls to his phone went unanswered.
Of the claims, the third one suggested poisoning; that, he was found foaming from his mouth and noise, rushed to the Upper West Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Boadu, was said to be the press secretary of Dr Bawumia, was part of a travelling contingent of the party’s campaign team that had toured the Volta, Eastern, Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions.
Strangely, Daily Graphic reports that, “Dr Bawumia, had set off from Wa before the news of Kwabena Boadu’s death got to him. He returned to Wa, where the sight of him and others at the regional hospital provoked tears and wider sympathy.
The Daily Graphic, further reported a source saying “Boadu and others who lodged at the Jam Guest House in Wa, complained about the electrical system in their lodging place when they first arrived there on Wednesday afternoon”.
The Upper west Regional Vice Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Hafiz bin Salih, confirmed the news to Daily Graphic on phone.
The source said, the staff of the lodging base, assured them of fixing the electrical problem by the time they returned from the rally, which ran beyond dusk.
That, the source said, was the only complaint they heard from him, before the shocking news.
The team, including presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo; Dr Bawumia, and former minister of state, Mr Alan Kyerematen, was scheduled to leave for Kumasi to participate in the one-week celebration of the death of Asantehemaa.
But Boadu, seemed to have stayed too long in his room, and when calls were made to his cell phone, they went unanswered.
The source said there was no response when his door was knocked on; he was seen through a back window lying motionless.
He was rushed to the regional hospital immediately, but was pronounced dead soon after.
It is unclear, whether an autopsy, had been done on him already.
More to Come!
