Barely days to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) joint parliamentary and presidential primaries slated for November 7, the leading contender for Weija-Gbawe Constituency, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, has urged the delegates in the Constituency to vote massively for a candidate, who has proven to be committed and is enhancing the development and progress of the community.
According to her, Weija-Gbawe Constituency, has suffered for so long in terms of development, since the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) took over the seat and for that matter, the time has come for the NDC to elect a leader, who is capable, passionate, competent, and above all attractive to floating voters.
She said, it was significant for them to come together to unanimously endorse the candidature of the tried and tested contestant in order to continue with numerous developmental projects she had already embarked upon, while the rest are ongoing in the Constituency.
Madam Obuobia Darko-Opoku, who had endeared herself for people in the Constituency, was speaking after she joined scores of well-wishers and sympathizers on a float through some wards in the Constituency, starting from Mallam to New Gbawe, Gbawe through Weija, and eventually ended at Oblogo with a mammoth rally.
The former parliamentary aspirant was very optimistic that, the party’s upcoming primaries, would be an endorsement for her hard works in the community to go ahead and clinch victory in the main 2016 general elections.
She told The Herald in an interview earlier that, the people knew the various projects she has done and the kind of contributions she had made for the community and therefore, come the D-day, “the people are going to the polling stations to endorse me, because they know what I have done with their support and collaboration”.
Sounding very positive, “OB” as she is affectionately called, assured her supporters and well-wishers, “we don’t need to go and tell people we are going for an election” because it would an endorsement for her candidature.
Obuobia Darko-Opoku, further advised the NDC faithful to ensure that no NPP member, choose their candidate for them in the November 7 primaries.
The float was graced by the entire Constituency executives, branch and ward members with supporters from all the wards.
