The MTN Ghana Foundation, the corporate social investment arm of telecommunications leader MTN, has announced that it has begun verification of nominations after receiving six hundred and eighty eight (688) nominees for the MTN Heroes of Change project.
Out of the total number received, the entries were shortlisted to the top 100 and subsequently to 32. The 32 identified nominees will be further pruned down to 20 for a TV program which will be broadcast to showcase the ways in which the identified heroes are impacting their communities positively.
Executive Director for the MTN Foundation Cynthia Lumor said, “We are delighted to receive such a huge response from the public. This shows the efforts people are making to improve their communities and to promote social change”.
We are very confident that the Jury will select the best person worthy to receive the 50,000 cedis support, she added.
The MTN Heroes of Change project was instituted by the MTN Ghana Foundation to recognize and reward outstanding contributions by individuals and groups who have volunteered time, energy and other resources to improve their communities through impactful community initiatives.
The ultimate winner to be adjudged, the MTN Hero of Change will receive project support of up to GH¢ 50,000. Additionally, winners in the six categories of Community Crusader, Social Protection, Health, Environment, Economic Empowerment and Education will each receive project support of up to GHc10, 000each.
The short listing and selection of winners are being done by an independent jury made up of highly experienced Ghanaians.
