…Confesses Her Irresponsible Parentage
Ablekuma West Member of Parliament (MP), Ursula Owusu Ekuful, has revealed that her 17-year-old son, saw it as an event when she finally made time to cook for the family.
The legislator speaking at a forum organised by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) on women empowerment said, the son exclaimed when he saw her at the kitchen, because it was a long time she was there.
“You are now acting like a mother, he said, I asked why and he said it is a long time you have been here…,” she narrated.
The irony is that, the razor mouth Ursula Owusu, few years ago, on Accra-based Peace FM, called the late President, John Evans Atta Mills, ‘an irresponsible father’, falsely claiming the then President, had neglected his only son, Samuel Fiifi Atta-Mills.
The young man was later to say in tribute to his father, that he was always there for him throughout his childhood and giving him wise counsel through the sharing of the personal (President) stories, revealing he was never neglected.
Ursula Owusu, who coincidentally was a student of Prof. Mills at the University of Ghana – Faculty of Law, disclosed that she was embarrassed by the comment of her son, since it showed how she has abandoned her domestic role as a mother.
“As for today, I would enjoy the meal papa…,” the boy told her again.
Despite admitting that the comment drew her attention to how she has abandoned her basic responsibilities, she said, her continual hanging out late caused that neglect.
According to her, that was part of the cost she paid for being a public advocacy campaigner for twelve years now.
She further called on women in public positions to learn to strike a balance between their domestic roles and public duty.
Mrs. Ekuful, said that was necessary if women are to keep their relationships.
Ursula Owusu, last year went into her second marriage, when she married a gentle UK-based Ghanaian ophthalmologist, Dr. Samuel Owusu Ekuful.
