The management of Unibank, the leading Small and Medium and Enterprises (SMEs) financing bank says, it will roll out smart ATM cards next year to ensure safer and secured banking.
Mr Felix Nyarko-Pong, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Unibank Ghana Limited, made this announcement at the final draw of the’ Dash for 200 K’ Promotion in Accra.
He said, the bank was improving on its Information Communication Technology (ICT) solutions to ensure customers are better served in the wake of the cyber frauds that has bedeviled the industry.
He explained that, come next year all Automated Teller (ATM) cards of the bank, would be changed and replaced with cards that contain chips and much secured Personal Identification Numbers (PIN).
According to him, these are more secured than the current cards that are being used in the banking industry.
He said, it came as no surprise as some of the bank’s competitors, have already opted for the much secured way of banking.
He noted that, the promotion dubbed ,“Dash for 200 K’, was organized to show appreciation to the customers for their loyalty to the bank over the years.
He said, the promotion was to urge the customers to cultivate the habit of saving and to reward customers, who took part in the promotion for the past three months.
He noted that so far, two mini draws were carried out in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital and Techiman in the Brong Ahafo region, where winners won attractive cash prizes.
On his part, Mr Clifford Mettle, the General Manager of Unibank, entreated the customers that the bank would continue to work hard to ensure that tailor-made products and services, are designed to meet their needs.
The promotion which was organized in collaboration with the National Lottery Authority (NLA), was won by Maybet Service, which took home whopping 200, 000 Cedis.
At the end of the draw, Forswell Limited, and Forgiveness Enterprise took home 50,000 each
The following companies and individuals: Purpose Ventures, Steve Chanti Limited, Eric Anim, Wisdom Agbanu, Angela Owusu, Achia Mensah, Boateng Nelson Isaac, Frimpong Kolas and Adams Musah, took home consolations prizes made of blenders, slit Air conditioners from Forewin Ghana Limited.
