The recklessness of a motor rider, Paul Agbalorwu last Saturday, July 27 at Agbaflome on the Accra-Aflao road has cut short, the life of a 16-year old pupil.
Bernard Husah, was a class five pupil of the Agbedrafor Basic School in the Akatsi South District of the Volta Region.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased with a friend, were pushing a truck-load of about 50 pieces of sachet water, while the motor rider (Okada) Paul Agbalorwu, was riding at the shoulders of the road from Abor to Akatsi.
Paul, who was in the company of a lady by name Amivi Agbadi lost control of the motor bike with registration number M -13 –V/R 2122 GH, hitting the deceased into the middle section of the road.
Surprisingly, however, Paul inhumanly failed to stop to check on the victim, he absconded with an ambulance he was travelling with which was conveying a dead body from the Sacred Heart Hospital Weme-Abor.
Bernard was rushed to the St. Paul’s Hospital Akatsi, by a “Good Samaritan” but considering his condition, he was later transferred to the St. Anthony’s Hospital, Dzodze, where he was pronounced dead.
Paul Agbalorwu was later found to be seeking treatment at the District Government Hospital, Akatsi.
In a related development, a 23-year-old motor rider, Selassie Asigbey Gli, last Friday, June 21, 2013 crushed into a vehicle which was travelling from Aflao to Accra at a spot known as “killer curve” at Monome Junction also in the Akatsi South District.
Selassie was said to be riding at top speed to Tayime, where a day earlier, a 30-year-old man, Daniel Shishieve, was reportedly murdered by unidentified men.
He was also rushed to the St. Paul’s Hospital, but due to his condition, he was referred to the St. Anthony’s Hospital, but died on the way.
Meanwhile, The Herald’s investigation has revealed that Selassie, was involved in a similar motor accident last year on his way to the ‘Hogbetsotso’ festival celebrated by the people of Anlo, where his arm was severely fractured. His remains will be laid to rest at Mepe near Bator on August 10.
