TV3 Network Commissions Digital Outside Broadcast (OB) Van


TV3, Ghana’s leading private television network has commissioned a state of the art digital Outside Broadcast (OB) Van to increase the provision of quality live programming to its cherished viewers .

The van, comes with two operational cameras, allowing it to transmit wireless live images from a location to the Van and onward transmission for viewers’ pleasure.

TV3 plans to use the van to start outdoor news broadcast by gathering news at the community level in real time. The van will be available to public and private institutions seeking to air important events for the information, education and entertainment of TV3 viewers.

TV3 plans to also make the van available to support Television and Film training institutions such as the Ghana Institute of Journalism, National Film and Television Institute and some other relevant professional institutions to use in their training programmes to enhance the knowledge of students in digital broadcasting.

At a ceremony at TV 3 recently to officially commission the OB Van, a board member of the company Mr. Emmanuel Botchway expressed delight that the facility will enable TV3 to report from locations all over the country thereby bring critical issues of national concern to the attention of decision makers for the necessary actions to be taken.

He advised staff of the company to put the facility to good use for the benefit of their viewers, customers and the public.

“We demand results from workers to merit the investment in this facility,” he said.

Mr. Botwey later handed over the keys of the van to the CEO of TV 3 Mr. Lazarus Lamptey.

The Head of Engineering of TV3, Mr. Augustus Bamfo Dickson described the facility as a unique OB van with the latest technology capable of beaming crystal clear pictures with quality sound. “The cameras in the van have the capacity to transmit live broadcast up to half a kilometer,” he added.

Mr. Dickson indicated that TV3’s outside broadcasting will be made much easier by the acquisition of the van. “We are not restricted by cables when doing an outside broadcast,” he added.

TV3 believes that the new equipment will enhance live coverage of events in the area of news, sports and giving viewers more engaging content.

TV3 remains committed to bringing quality programmes to its viewers, particularly in the area of news, sports and entertainment.
