Call them the house of reality shows and you will not be wrong.
TV3, known over the years for its award winning reality shows, is back again with its music reality show, Mentor.
TV3 Mentor was the talk of the town back then when it officially raised the curtain for music reality shows in Ghana as far back as 2006.
The show , which run for seven years before it was rested is expected to replace Ghana’s Most Beautiful at primetime on Sundays.
Speaking at the unveiling of the new logo and the prize package, General Manager in charge of Operations and Shared Services at Media General, Winfred Kingsley Afful ,noted that the re-introduction of the programme has been due to continuous audience engagement and the clamour for viewers to see the programme back on the screens.
He noted the “Media General has been leading the electronic media landscape in Ghana with innovative programmes and Our flagship, TV3 has led in many years in reality shows and entertainment”.
He announced the winner of the season would be given a two-bedroom house in a prime location, GHS50,000 worth or airtime with many consolation prizes. He further added first and second runner ups would also be given in addition to the winning packages, airtime to promote their music.
“Mentor, truly takes you higher which is what we are demonstrating by the new package we have for the participants and winners, he retorted.
The programme which took place at the TV3 Executive Theatre was some past contestants like Yaw Stone winner of Mentor 6 and also of “Adonko” fame, Kesse, winner of Mentor 4, Minister Kofy and Nii Sou of Mentor 2, Mr Prince and Ike of Mentor 7.
Mr Afful told audience at the event which was telecast live on TV3 and all sister stations that the new season of mentor has undergone serious thoughts and repackaged to ensure there’s a new experience for music lovers.
He added that the media general group is planning to introduce other exciting and interesting programmes that would consolidate their position in the Ghanaian Media space and asked audience to stay glued to all their platforms adding Onua TV would certainly bring a new definition for local language television and we shall continue to lead in innovation.
The General Manager announced that auditions are opened and prospective participants can fill the forms on www.3news.com and auditions would take place at four centres, Tamale, Kumasi, Takoradi and Accra.
