A singing group ,“Amasing”, from Assin Fosu in the Central Region, last Sunday stole the show when the season II of a choral and akapella group reality show “Celebration”, was launched on air last Sunday.
“Amasing”, with it able choir instructor, Twumasi, were the seventh to perform on the night and according to the two judges, Rev. Dr. Thomas Yawson and a lecturer from the University of Ghana’s Department of Music, Timothy Andoh, the group thrilled viewers and studio audience and so deserved to win the “Performer of the Night” award, as announced by host of the show, Azigiza Jnr.
The show, produced and aired by TV3 Network Company which would be showed every Sunday at 8pm, has groups from the Greater Accra, Central, Eastern and Western Regions.
The 9-week show, has eight choral groups and two akapella groups. They are “Revelators” a six-member akapella group from Sekondi, “Suhum Presby Youth” (SPYC) from Suhum, “Inner Circle” (ICI) based in Accra and “Voice Network International” (VNI Crew) from Accra.
The rest are, “Royal Sparrows” from Accra, Live Gospel from Kasoa, “Pipers” a five-member akapella group from Accra, “Hope Inspirational Singers” from Dansoman, “Heavenly Royals” from La and “Amasing”. For the first time, Celebration has a physically challenged group “Sparrows”.
“Celebration”, is designed to spice up the celebration of Christmas and also to usher viewers into the New Year. Winners of season II, will take the enviable accolade from Akoo, who won the first season with prizes such as instruments, cash, certificate, and other consolation prizes from sponsors.
