As Eugene Antwi Goes Dirty ON Isaac Osei In Party’s Parliamentary Elections
A senior economics lecturer at the University for Development Studies'(UDS’) and a member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Michael Ayamga Adongo, has resigned over what he described as the unending tribal bigotry being displayed by the leadership of the party.
The Founding Member of the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy (TESCON), cited the recent tribal attack by NPP National Council Member, Eugene Boakye Antwi, on the affable gentleman, Isaac Osei; Member of Parliament (MP) for Subin in the Ashanti Region as one of the many instances which has forced him to leave the NPP.
Eugene Antwi, said of Isaac Osei; a senior member of the NPP that the “Fante blood in him, has fooled him”.
“He is a fool, he is a selfish person. I said he is a fool, don’t mind him the Fante blood in him has fooled him. Leave him he has no sense….Isaac is behind all the noises, he is behind all if he says he doesn’t know anything he is lying”, the tough-talking Eugene Antwi, was captured on tape as saying.
The lecturer, bemoaned the covert and overt endorsement, given the ethnocentric menace by the party’s 2016 flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, who himself has made some of the tribal comments and justified same from other party members like EX-Finance Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo.
Dr. Adongo ,who first made his intension known on his Facebook wall and followed it up with an interview with Radio Gold yesterday, further said, the NPP ex-President, John Agyekum Kufuor handed over to Nana Akufo- Addo, is not the same NPP we see today.
He insisted that, “The party is yet to enjoy the sanity we enjoyed under eight years administration of Kufuor”, adding “how can a party member describe its Member of Parliament (MP), who he is contesting as a fool because, he has a Fanti blood in him”? Dr. Adongo asked.
“Again, I was totally amazed when I heard Akufo-Addo on Starr FM, an Accra-based radio station endorsing Osafo Marfo, the former Minister for Finance’s tribal bigotry comment”
He said, these are unacceptable tendencies that have popped up under the leadership of the twice defeated presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo.
Dr. Adongo, ended his lamentation by saying, “I cannot associates myself with divisiveness and tribalism”.
Stiff competition, has started ensuing between Eugene Boakye Antwi, (alias Eugass ) one of Nana Addo’s men, who is seeking to unseat the Subin MP, Isaac Osei.
Eugene Antwi, has resorted to personality attacks on the former Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK, describing him as a “fool”, because he has some Fanti blood in him. The calm and sober MP, is said to be half Ashanti and half Fanti.
Mr. Antwi, a very hot-headed politician, was captured on tape denigrating the sitting MP for his decision to contest for the seat once again, despite saying he is no longer interested in the seat, after serving the Subin Constituency for two terms.
The venomous National Council Member, who according to sources within the opposition group, is backed by Nana Addo, was angry with Mr. Osei for allowing him to waste funds and other resources to lobby for the seat ahead of the party’s Parliamentary primaries when in fact, he; Mr. Osei, wanted to contest the 2016 election.
Speaking to what looks like some party members in the Ashanti Region from the Subin Constituency, Mr. Antwi, did not minced words when he angrily branded the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of COCOBOD, as “a fool and a selfish person”.
Mr. Antwi, said to be a personal secretary to Nana Addo, continued that Mr. Osei, one of the finest gentlemen in the largest opposition group, should not be paid any attention, because the “Fante blood in him has fooled him”.
“He is a fool, he is a selfish person. I said he is a fool, don’t mind him the Fante blood in him has fooled him. Leave him he has no sense….Isaac is behind all the noises, he is behind all if he says he doesn’t know anything he is lying”, he said.
According to Mr. Antwi, the one-time Ghana’s High Commissioner in the erstwhile John Kufuor government “has no sense”. He added that Mr. Osei, has been behind ugly noises going on in the Constituency, ahead of the primary.
The legislator, who has been targeted because of his relationship with former president Kufuor, is yet to respond to the tape which has since gone viral on social media platforms and on radio stations.
This comes at a time when there is an alleged “coup d’état” by Nana Addo and party’s First Vice Chairman, Freddie Blay, to oust National Chairman, Paul Afoko, and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong.
The national chairman, Mr. Afoko, is said to be on a private trip abroad, but Mr. Agyapong, who is in the country was not consulted on an emergency meeting held on Monday.
Mr. Agyapong, told the media he was not aware of the said National Executive Steering Committee Emergency Meeting, and that he was in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, “eating fufu”.
When Mr. Afoko was reached on phone, he was reported to have said Nana Addo, who was part of the meeting could go on and do whatever he wants with the party.
The action of the former Convention People’s Party (CPP) parliamentarian, only goes to confirm earlier tape by the Northern Regional Chairman of the party, Daniel Bugri Naabu, who revealed that Nana Addo, had handpicked some executives within the national executives, who would be responsible for his 2016 campaign.
On that same tape, Mr. Afoko and Agyapong, were said to be on Agenda 2020, hence were going to be sidelined in the 2016 campaign to avoid them stabbing the Akufo-Addo campaign in the back.
Yesterday on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, a founding member of the NPP, Dr. Amoako Tuffour said, indeed, there are people working to thwart the effort of Nana Addo purposely because they see his vice presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as a threat who may rise to become the next president after Nana Addo serves his term.
He claimed he and others were aware of series of meetings that are being organized at a hotel in Accra, adding they are watching them seriously, but will deal with all of them at the appropriate time.
According to the former boss of the National School Feeding Programme, those individuals some of whom are both close to and far from the flagbearer, are wishing that he does not succeed because if he does, their presidential ambition would remain a dream, because by the time Dr. Bawumia serves his tenure after Nana Addo, they would have grown old.
