Popular radio presenter, Alhassan Suhuyini, has stated emphatically that he would contest in the Tamale North constituency primaries of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Rumors were rife that, the ace Radio Gold presenter was eyeing the seat, although he refused to officially comment on it.
But speaking on his show ‘Alhaji and Alhaji’ last Saturday, Suhuyini who has been hosting the current affairs programme for many years, put the rumors to rest by admitting for the first time that he was indeed contesting in the November parliamentary primaries.
The Tamale North seat is currently being held by an independent candidate, Alhassan Dramani.
The NDC has set November 7, 2015, for both its presidential and parliamentary primaries. Filing of nomination forms, will open on August 27 and end on September 10.
Meanwhile, women and disabled persons, who wish to contest the primaries will have to pay 50 percent of the fixed filing fee of Gh¢10, 000.
But anyone willing to contest President John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming presidential primaries, will have to cough out GH¢50,000 as filing fee, a 150 percent increment from the GH¢20,000 charged by the party in 2012.
