After Major Feats In Water Delivery and Affordable Housings
Alhaji Collins Dauda, one of the successful ministers in the John Mahama administration, has been moved from the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, as part of a reshuffle which was announced over the weekend.
Alhaji Dauda’s tenure of office, saw a massive improvement in the delivery of potable water to many parts of the country, especially the Eastern, Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions.
Adenta, Madina and their environs, has seen significant improvement in the water supply following the completion of the US$273 million Kpong Water Supply Expansion Project in December last year, with additional 20 million gallons of water expected in homes later this year. 20 million gallons is already being supplied.
The Teshie/Nungua water desalination project is now also sending huge volumes of water to various homes, which have been without water for many years.
Ashanti Manpong, Kibi and their environs in the Ashanti and Eastern Regions, are all getting clean water now.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asutifi South in the Brong Ahafo Region, was also successful in the construction of Affordable Houses in parts of the Greater Accra Region; some of these houses include the 5000 Affordable Housing project at Saglemi in the Ningo District of the Greater Accra Region initiated by President Mahama in 2013, which is also near completion.
But it is unclear, why President John Dramani Mahama will reassign Alhaji Dauda; one of his hardworking ministers to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.
A statement signed by the new Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, also announced Health Minister, Dr. Kwaku Agyeman Mensah, as the new Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing.
Coincidentally, Julius Debrah, was the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development until his recent appointment to the position of Chief of Staff.
Also reassigned, is the Minister for Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga, few months after moving to that ministry.
Mr. Ayariga, has now been moved to the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation.
Minister of State at the Presidency, Alhaji Dr. Mustapha Ahmed (MP) takes over as Minister for Youth and Sports, with Akwasi Oppong-Fosu, moving to the Presidency as
a Minister of State.
The statement also announced the President’s nomination of Deputy Minister for Defence, Alex Segbefia as Minister for Health and the headmaster of Tepa Senior High
School (SHS), Peter Anarfi-Mensah, as Ashanti Regional Minister.
President Mahama, has also nominated the MP for Juabeso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, as a Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources to replace Ebenezer Okletey Teye Larbi (MP).
Samuel Yaw Adusei, has been made Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, while Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, goes to the Defence Ministry also as a Deputy Minister.
