Some young women parading themselves as sex workers, have turned the entrance of the Redco flats, a residential area in the Madina area of the La-Nkwantang Municipal Assembly (LaNMA) into a hub for sex trade and place where women between the ages of fifteen to thirty, openly solicit for sex from prospective men.
The young women age between sixteen and twenty years of age openly ply their trade in front of the Redco Flat Fire service station everyday in the night.
According to The Herald’s undercover scouts, the young girls openly solicit for sex and charge their prospective customers fifteen and twenty Cedis per a round of sex in a make shift structure, put up by some men in the area for a fee of two Cedis.
The young women, have been using the makeshift structure as a brothel and the owners also charge them for the use in the yard, opposite the entrance of the Redco flat.
Even though the La-Nkwatanang Municipal Assembly, has earlier gone to demolish some of the structures that were used as brothels, the same structures are gradually springing up and the area is fast becoming the hub for sex trade, aside Abeka Lapaz, Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Dansoman exhibition and other areas in the capital city.
