The Kumasi Circuit Court, has jailed a security man 15 years for defiling a 12-year-old girl contrary to section 101 of Act 29/60 as amended by section 11 of Act 544/98.
The Presiding judge, Her Lordship Rita Agyeman-Budu, convicted the accused of defilement of female under 16 years sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
Mr. Antwi Gyeabour, 66, a security man at the STEPS TO LIFE school, lured the girl into one of the classrooms where he works and defiled her.
Chief Inspector P. Y. Bebli said, on July 31, 2014, the complainant ,who is a father of the victim, detected that the victim was finding it difficult to walk so he approached her and he noted that
He said on July 24 at 7 o’clock in the morning, the victim left home to attend to nature’s call at a public toilet, but on her way back home, the accused (Gyeabour), who was at post called the girl into one of the classrooms and had sexual intercourse with her.
According to the prosecutor, after the act, the accused person gave the victim GHc1.00 and warned her not to disclose the act or mention him to anybody.
Eventually the poor girl told his father that she was defiled by Mr. Gyeabour upon questioning hence a report was lodged with the police.
In a caution statement, Antwi Gyeabour admitted the offence upon which he was charged and prosecuted.
