Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur, wife of Ghana’s Vice-President, last Friday April 25, 2014 appealed to health personnel to show love to patients who attend the hospitals for treatment.
The Second Lady, made the appeal when she presented quantities of assorted health equipment worth several hundreds of Ghana Cedis to the Taifa Polyclinic in the Ga East municipality of the Greater Accra Region, in line with her personal commitment to help improve health service delivery across the country. .
The items includes, beds, mattresses, crutches, zima frames, trolleys, theatre equipment, safety boxes, syringes, walking racks, among others.
She noted that the sick only need love and care to be healed, even without medication in some cases, and urged the health workers to ensure that quality health care services were provided to the public.
She called on NGOs and capable individuals to get involved in assisting government to achieve the objective of providing quality health care, since government alone could not afford it.
The second lady called on health officials to take very good care of the donated equipment to ensure longevity and for the benefit of future generations.
The Medical superintendent in charge of the polyclinic Dr Charles Dewhurst thanked the Second Lady for the concern shown to them and gave the assurance that the equipment would be taken good care of.
“We assure the Second Lady that the items will be put to good use and that in spite of all the challenges, we the staff will continue to try our best in providing good services.”
