A Saudi based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Students Organization for Islamic Core, has made a kind donation to hundred and thirty (130) Muslim orphans in the Ashanti region.
Orphans who received the items which included a pair of shoes and sandals, an Islamic wear and a cash amount of GH¢ 80.00 each came from communities such as, Agona, Kumawu, Afigyaase, Asokore, Dadiesase and the towns within Kumasi metropolis.
During the presentation which was done at Afigyase of Sekyere East district at the closure of the Muslim fast, the Treasurer for the group, Mr. Mohammed Muftahu, indicated that the initiative formed part of their yearly support for orphans in the Ghanaian society.
The NGO he again noted was poised toward embarking on several social intervention programmes in deprived communities in other countries as well.
Receiving the items, Mallam Abdull Ibrahim Abdallah, the Imam for the area, thanked the NGO and challenged them to carry on with the good work of charity.
He underlined that, following the high ascendancy of orphans in the country, it was about time the well-to-do in society, extended a hand of support in addressing their needs so as to save them from indulging in the many juvenile related social vices.
Due to reluctance on the part of a good number of wealthy men in the area of generosity towards the underprivileged in society, he noted has given room for all categories of evil activities shunned by right thinking people, adding that until that attitude is dealt with, the money deficient youth, will always resort to foul means for survival.
Malam Abdul Ibrahim Abdallah, therefore, called on individuals, government and organizations to follow the example made by the foreign body in question for the good of the country.
