Kwabena Agyapong Aide Pushes
As PNC Ayariga, Alban Bagbin & Others March Against Tribal Bigotry Today
By Alfred Dogbey
Scores of Ghanaians from all walks of life, will today hit the streets of Accra to register their protest against what they described as “tribal bigotry, ethnocentrism and regionalism”, emanating from the corridors of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Already, the issue has started eating up the opposition to an extent that a Special Aide to the NPP General Secretary is calling for the sacking of a group aligned to Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, as he believes it is behind the secret audio taping of a former Finance Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo in furtherance of Agenda 2020.
The marchers are expected to converge at the Obra Spot at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra to pour on the street to register their displeasure in a peaceful march against Mr. Osafo Marfo’s extremely offensive and tribally derogatory remarks about people who hail from non-Akan-speaking parts of the country.
An intercepted confidential memo authored by one Musah Superior, a Special Assistant to the NPP’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong asking those behind NPP Agenda 2020 plot to be sacked from the party, as they are saboteurs who secretly taped Mr. Osafo Marfo at the meetings “…to derail our campaign”.
Alan Kyerematen, is said to be behind Agenda 2020 with NPP National Chairman, Paul Afoko, Kwabena Agyapong and others, including ex-President John Kufuor.
Mr. Kyerematen is supposed to become NPP flagbearer moving on to the presidency by this plot.
The memo, which has been read on a couple of radio stations, including Breeze FM’s Sinopi Current Affairs Programme is being circulated among only NPP stalwarts.
Attached to the confidential document was a strict warning, “Do not share with a non-NPP platform or on your facebook wall”.
According to the confidential memo, “the NPP is unfortunately confronted with a heinous and flagitious agenda to whittle down our Party. Very worryingly, we have become our own enemies in an exercise we all claim we are in for and committed to”.
The march, which will be the first of its kind to be recorded in the nation’s democratic history, is being organized by a group known as “Coalition for the Defence of Equal Citizenship (CODEC)” on behalf of worried Ghanaians, who are particular about the growing explosive tribal bigotry by selfish politicians in the country.
The Herald has learnt that, the well publicized peaceful march dubbed, “We Are All Equal”, will be joined by some highly respected and prominent individuals in society, businessmen, men of God and politicians.
Additionally, The Herald, also gathered that the majority Members of Parliament (MPs) have sought permission from the Speaker to join the march.
A statement signed and issued in Accra yesterday by the convener of the group, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, and copied to The Herald said, “The time has come to stand up to preserve the peace and unity we have enjoyed over the years”. The group’s statement which is inviting everyone to participate in the peaceful march also charged Ghanaians to as a matter of urgency “Say NO to tribalism, ethnocentrism and regionalism”.
According to the group, “Ghana is a unitary state and it is your duty to protect, preserve and to guard this country jealously”, adding, “the time is here”. CODEC added that “Ghanaians must stand up and be counted when it matters most. This is the time to preserve the legacy that your forebears have bequeathed you and I. Ghana is a unitary state” which “…came out of battles for common identity”.
Let us not allow a few individuals who think their personal parochial interest, must supersede that of Ghana to have their way”, the statement noted.
According to them, there would be vehicles stationed at vantage points to aid movement to and from the venue, Obra Spot, at Kwame Nkrumah Circle at 6: am prompt.
According to the intercepted confidential memo, “the NPP is unfortunately confronted with a heinous and flagitious agenda to whittle down our Party. Very worryingly, we have become our own enemies in an exercise we all claim we are in for and committed to”.
“It beats my imagination that a patriot, will deliberately record proceedings of our meeting unauthorized and make it available to the public. I find it extremely difficult to comprehend. By these dangerous happenings, I particularly feel unenthused to discuss anything of strategic nature in an NPP meeting”.
Musah Superior, who is a close pal of Nana Akufo-Addo bemoaned that “The consequence of these untoward activities by these internal hooligans and anti-NPP agenda plotters is that, all our tactics or strategies will end up in the public domain. This will surely draw us backwards”.
According to him, “all these sabotaged operations are orchestrated by our OWN “members”. What this clearly explains is that, some of people are out to injure the
reputation of the Party; thereby making us unattractive to the voters in the pursuance of their agenda. But they will fail”.
“Haven’t we heard about agenda 2020, which has been strenuously denied? I used to be skeptical about this 2020 madness, but I am now convinced unequivocally that there is an agenda to hurt the Party and it includes working to undermine our strength to win election 2016”, he observed.
He said, “If you doubt this as I used to; ask yourself why at a COUNCIL OF ELDERS meeting, a recording of a member’s submission was secretly done and published it. These category of members are supposed to be the most senior and revered in the Party. It beggars belief!”
FIRE BURN THE PLOTTERS!
The obviously enraged Special Assistant, who seems to have known personally the saboteurs in the NPP said, “The saboteurs are with us. They are our own members. They attend our meetings. We plan with them but we do not know them. They are very cunning, shrewd and very pretentious”.
According to him, “Most of them are older party guys, terribly bitter, self-centred and on a mission to implacable destruction. Failure stares in their faces; In Sha Allah” and went “We must look out for these characters at our meetings and nip them in the bud. We must demotivate their operations by putting in place stringent security measures at our meetings”.
He observed that, “one of the biggest challenges to our Party in this electioneering campaign are these charlatans and fraudulent guys deeply involved in our activities; especially when we are discussing highly confidential or strategic themes” adding “It becomes a difficulty of the highest decree to operate efficiently with these “imposters” who connected closely, deeply, unsuspectingly and indiscriminately to our activities unknowingly or at our “blind sides”.
The NPP activist lamented “I am very troubled and mentally distressed by these internal wreckage. I feel betrayed and I believe most of our members and sympathisers are too”. The memo recommended that the party should quickly “get the internal saboteurs out” of the NPP, because “they are at work to derail our campaign”.
