Mr. Robert Sarbah and Alhaji Iddrisu Tetteh was last Friday August 9, 2013 unanimously elected Regional Chairman of Ghana Private Roads and Transport Union (GPRTU) and Vice Chairman respectively.
After the exit of the former Regional Chairman, Mr. Anteah Tetteh, popularly known as Alhaji Tetteh , as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Kpone Katamanso ,Mr. Sabbah, who was the Vice-Chairman and one time Parliamentary aspirant for Ablekuma Central Constituency, on the ticket of the
New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2004 parliamentary elections, assumed the position of Acting Regional Chairman, until he was elected last Friday
by members of the union.
Mr. Sarbah who stood unopposed for the position of Regional Chairman, polled three hundred and ninety-four (394) votes at the end of the peaceful voting at Arts Centre, representing 99.4 percent of total votes cast.
Alhaji Iddrisu Tetteh, who was also the Welfare Chairman of the Kaneshie Lorry terminal in Accra polled three hundred and seventy –two (372) votes representing 93.4 percent of total votes cast to be elected the Regional Vice-Chairman, taking over from Mr. Sarbah.
One Mr. Isaac Ahuma Kubi, also the Branch Chairman of the Teshie-Nungua branch at the Tema Station Lorry terminal and vying for the vacant Regional vice Chairmanship slot polled an abysmal twenty –four (24) votes representing 0.6 percent of total votes cast.
At the end of the voting, Nine hundred and thirty-six votes were cast, with two branch heads abstaining from voting.
