Arsenal have been responding to fans’ concerns about their lack of signings by sending out letters to reassure them that new players are on the way.
Arsene Wenger has only brought in one player so far – young French striker Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer – and several near misses have been well documented.
But as fears grow over their hopes for the season following their opening day defeat by Aston Villa it has emerged that the club have personally responding to each discontented fan with a letter.
The letter, seen by Sportsmail, reads:
“Many thanks for your email. We understand and share your disappointment that Arsenal Football Club plc have not secured any acquisitions on players for the new season.
“In terms of our dealings in the transfer market, we can assure you we have been working hard throughout the summer to bring in additional players and this will continue until the end of the transfer window.
“We are clear that our ambition at Arsenal is to compete for and win trophies. This ambition is shared by our majority owner Stan Kroenke, the board, Arsène Wenger and everyone who works for the Club.
“I take this opportunity to thank you for your continued and valued support of Arsenal Football Club plc.
“On Behalf of Arsenal Football Club.”
