Rector Of Takoradi Poly Honoured In South Africa

The Rector of Takoradi Polytechnic, Rev. Professor Daniel Nyarko, has been given honorary award by a South Africa-based organization, International Institute for Governance and Development (IIGD), held in Johannesburg.

The award, was proffered on the respected Rector together with other distinguished and selfless individuals on the African continent in recognition for their immense contribution towards education and business, including other sectors in Africa.

Rev. Prof. Nyarko’s citation for the award reads: “For your invaluable contribution to the development of education, the organization presents you an African Prize for Innovation, Integrity and Development Award”.

He was honoured alongside Chief Emeka Ezeh of Anchor Group of Companies, also for his contribution towards African business.

Present at the event, were the West African Executive Director for IIGD, Rev. Dr. Godwin P. Davids, Dr. Vusumuzi Sibanda, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mavusela Group, South African, Jean Piere of World Forum for Migration, Mr. Paul Agyei Boakye, President of Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) and Madam Angelique, Gender Rights activist from DRC.

Not long ago, UK-based Europe Business Assembly (EBA), an independent corporation for development and management of economic, social and humanitarian collaboration, also presented the Takoradi Polytechnic Rector with an award for being the ‘Best Manager of the Year’ in science and education with a personal certificate.

Also under his headship, the Takoradi Polytechnic, has been recognized as one of the leading polytechnics in Ghana in the Best Regional Polytechnic in Science and Education award for 2013.

Rev. Prof. Daniel A. Nyarko, was the only Ghanaian polytechnic rector to achieve this monumental feat in the annals of the country’s polytechnic education.

He received the award at the Oxford Summit of Leaders held last year 2013 in Oxford in the United Kingdom.

The EBA International Relations Manager, Anna Gorobets said, “the award is in recognition of the Polytechnic’s professionalism in teaching and learning, the quality of researches, introduction and realization of international programmes as well as contributions to national educational
development in 2012”.
