Re-Top Ghana Water Engineer Under Probe For Stealing Project Materials

The attention of Ghana Water Company Limited, has been drawn to this news item carried in the Wednesday 14th January 2015 issue of your newspaper, the Herald, and we wish to respond to it appropriately.

In the first place, management of Ghana Water Company Limited, will like to state in uncertain terms that no top Ghana Water engineer is under probe for stealing materials meant for water project in part of the Central Region.

Contrary to what was reported in your newspaper and widely discussed on Adom FM and Montie FM, management of Ghana Water Company wishes to emphasise that Mr. Francis Lamptey, who is presently the Distribution Manager of Accra West Region and who has been named in your story, has not been charged by the Company or any institution for the offence mentioned in the story.

We wish to state that, in line with normal practice, such an act of malfeasance on the part of Mr. Francis Lamptey, would have been reported to his immediate boss and the head office but our records show that Management of GWCL, has not received any official report on the loss of the said material in the Central Region.

Indeed Mr. Emmanuel Ashia, the boss of Mr. Lamptey at the time he was on transfer in Cape Coast, denied the loss of the project materials when contracted for his version of the story as carried in your newspaper last week. For that reason, it is extremely strange that such an allegation could be made against the Regional Distribution Manager when such offence has neither been committed nor come to the attention of management.

Consequently, we wish to conclude that the story as carried in your newspaper is full of untruths and outright lies and must be dismissed as such. It is most unfair for any person or any group of persons to make such wild accusations to tarnish the reputation of both the officer and Ghana Water Company Limited in a newspaper such as yours.

Thank you therefore the space and granting us the opportunity to set the records straight.
