Ramadan Joins Son In-Law, Daughter & Son At Dinner Table Prez Collapses PNC

President Akufo-Addo has sworn-in Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan, the father in-law of the vice-president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as Ghana’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), joining his two kids; Samira Bawumia and Abu Ramadan, already in government.

Alhaji Ramadan, also joined his 2016 flagbearer, Edward Nasigri Mahama, who President Akufo-Addo, appointed Ambassador-at-Large.

What is interesting is that, Edward Nasigri Mahama, remains in Ghana without any designated duties, Alhaji Ramadan, former chairman of People’s National Convention (PNC), has become the first ever Ambassador appointed to the UAE.

The President in a speech, charged the new Ambassador to work with diligence and foster stronger economic relations between Ghana and the UAE.

According to Mr. Akufo-Addo, appointing an ambassador for the first time to the oil rich nation, will also help develop and “build strong relations with that part of the world.”

Alhaji Ramadan is the father of Ghana’s second lady, Samira Bawumia and deputy CEO of the National Disaster and Management Organisation (NADMO), Abu Ramadan.

It is becoming clear that, the family and friends phenomenon in the Akufo-Addo government, will not end soon.

Recently, Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta; a cousin to President Nana Akufo-Addo, also used his position to push the wife of his direct younger brother; Earl Ofori-Atta, to the position of Deputy Managing Director of the State Insurance Company (SIC).

Eno Ofori-Atta nee Kusi-Boateng, will be acting at her new capacity, until a substantive Deputy Managing Director is appointed by the Board of Directors , but it is unlikely that that substantive Deputy Managing Director will be found soon.

By a letter dated August 16, 2017, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, wrote to the Company Secretary SIC Financial Services Limited saying “H.E. the President has nominated Ms. Eno Ofori-Atta to act as Deputy Managing Director of SIC Financial Services Limited, pending the appointment of a substantive Deputy Managing Director by the Board of Directors”.

The letter was copied to the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo, Secretary to the Vice-President, Deputy Ministers of Finance, Chief Director of the Flagstaff House and Eno Ofori-Atta herself.

Until her appointment, Eno, was with the Women’s World Banking (WWB) in Accra, where according to credible sources, she had remained for a period of time.

Her husband, Earl, was with his brother’s Data Bank in Kumasi until their cousin; Nana Akufo-Addo, formed the government and he conveniently relocated back to Accra, to be closer to the seat of government.

With Data Bank in coma and most of its senior staff engaged by Ken Ofori-Atta, it is unclear yet ,what Earl, who is a senior to Duke Ofori-Atta, is doing currently by way of employment.

Earl and Duke, are said to always be dependent on their big brother, who in this case is the finance minister to put body and soul together.

The SIC job is, therefore, seen as meant for Earl with his wife, only fronting.

Duke, who President Akufo-Addo, recently placed on Ghana@60 celebration, was the man who the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who together with Gabby Asare Ochere Darko; a nephew of the president, was accused of demanding money from people, who crave to see the president at the Flagstaff House.

Eno holds a BA in law and sociology from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and MBA in Management from the same institution.

She has listed on her Linkedin account as the Chief Executive of Payflex Micro finance company, a subsidiary of Affinity Finance Africa, and head of Credit at the Women’s World Banking.

Founded in June 2005, SIC-FSL, is specialized in an array of investment management services, such as stock brokerage, portfolio & pension management, as well as corporate finance & advisory services.

It is licensed as an Investment Advisor and a Broker-Dealer by the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) and is a member of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE).

This comes at a time, when many party bigwigs and members, are still gnashing their teeth and waiting impatiently for their appointments from Nana Akufo-Addo, he is endlessly and busily appointing his family members from the Eastern Region to very juicy positions.

Already, the president, who then in opposition attacked then president Mahama of appointing his family and friends, tagging his government “as family and friends”, has done the unexpected by appointing one of his biological daughters, Gyankroma Akufo-Addo, as a Director at the Creative Arts Council.

There is a tall list of family, friends and in-laws of President Akufo-Addo, serving as Ministers, agency heads, boards member boards, ambassadors and also at the Judiciary among others.

They include; Ken Ofori-Atta, Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Gloria Akuffo, Housing Minister, Atta Akyea, Kwasi Amoako-Atta, Kwame Boafo Akuffo, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo, Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo, Jude Kofi Bucknor, Yoofi Grant, Alice Ofori-Atta, Kwame Owusu-Nyatekyi, Fanny Egala, Virginia Hesse, among others.
