President John Mahama visited and consoled Madam Graça Machel, widow of the late South African President, Nelson Mandela.
This was hours after the President and other world leaders filed past the body of the late anti-apartheid campaigner in the Union Building in Pretoria, and attended a lunch hosted by President Jacob Zuma.
Despite a heavy downpour later in the afternoon of Wednesday, President Mahama visited the widow of a man he has described as iconic.
Earlier in an interview with journalists after the filing past, President Mahama, according to the GNA, said he would be guided by the principles of forgiveness and selflessness the late President left behind.
The President said Mandela had the opportunity to revenge his 27 years spent in prison but let it go on account of his belief in forgiveness and selflessness.
