The National Chairman, cum 2016 flagbearer for the United Progressive Party (UPP), Mr. Akwasi Addai a.k.a “Odike,” has blamed both past and present leaders of the country for the many woes suffered by citizens of Ghana.

Despite the prevailing political independence enjoyed by the nation, the leadership according to the business tycoon, has proven beyond reasonable doubt that, they are deficient of the required governing capacity to workout effective policies that can birth the much expected economic freedom and save the nation from the heat of the current crisis.

In a sharp contrast visa-vis the level of progress made by other neighbouring countries, Ghana he underscored, was still lagging behind in the economic race with no hope whatsoever, since the leaders are not equipped to save its noble citizens.

He bemoaned why, as a nation which almost has all the god-given resources, leaders still depend on multi-lateral and bi-lateral partners for loans and other financial assistance.

Hitting the nail right on the head during the party’s just ended congress on the July 18, 2015, at the Golden Tulip in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, all state ministers, including other government officials under John Dramani Mahama, businessman “Odike” underlined are weak vessels, hence the high ascendancy of dilemma suffered by J.M.

“His Excellency John Dramani Mahamma, has failed to surround himself with instrumental ministers who can effect good policies,” he challenged.

When voted for come 2016 presidential elections, Mr. Odike, pledged to ensure that good developmental polices are put in place and that his administration, would be the transparent type, devoid of all forms of corruption.

On the flip side, UPP, during the national congress, caused an uncharacteristic political shiver through the spines of many Ghanaians far and wide when their much trumpeted national congress came into fruition in the region.

UPP, even though a young and a break-away party from United Front Party (UFP), founding fathers and supporters, were last time able to prove to Ghanaians principally their critics who were of the notion that the new formation, will amount to nothing, unless they are truly fortified on every side and also have what it takes to claim power from the ruling party NDC, come 2016 general election.

The just ended national elections of flagbearer and executives which was duly supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC), turned a pump gathering in every aspect as it witnessed a colourful attendance of dignitaries belonging to diverse standing in society, cum the loyal supporters of party members from all the ten regions, including one thousand five hundred delegates (1,500) and aspiring parliamentary candidates of the party devoid of any violent whatsoever.

Name of unopposed national party executives and flagbearer outdoored at the congress include; Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike, 2016 flagbearer doubling as the National Chairman, Mr. Razak Kojo Opoku General Secretary, Alhaji Bashiru Zakari, 1st National Vice-Chairman,Nana Akwasi Prempeh, 2nd National vice-chairman, Mr. Anane Kobo, 3rd National vice-chairman.
