Alhaji Abubakar Siddique Boniface, former Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, has reminded the chiefs and people of Madina in the La-Nkwantang Municipal Assembly of the Greater Accra Region that; he was into politics, because of the passion he has for things to be done right and not for money.
“Politics is my passion and I have the passion for politics” the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Madina Constituency said.
According to the PC, he is not in politics to make money or to enjoy the largess that come with being a member of the Legislature.
Aihaji Boniface, made this comment when he delivered two heavy duty tanks for the mechanization of two bore-holes at Adoteiman-Ayigbe Town and Otinibi, all in the Madina Constituency.
He said, if it were to be because of money, he would have retired from politics by now after being MP for Salaga Constituency in the Northern for
two terms, and heading five Ministries under erstwhile John Agyekum Kufour’s administration.
He noted that, he has seen it all as a Cabinet member, when he was the minster for Water Resources, Works and Housing in the last NPP’s administration.
“If it were to be for money I would be relaxing somewhere and focusing on the welfare of my family people by now.
But, it is because of the passion and the zeal to serve the people and see things done right in the country”, he said
He stressed that, it was his passion for politics that drove him to bring Salaga Constituency to the lime light of politics in the country.
He said, he entered the Madina race, because of his desire to see Zongos uplifted in the scheme of things in the country.
He said, he had lived in Madina for the past thirty years, and has witnessed the fortunes of the area kept dwindling over the years, because of bad leadership.
He said, a growing municipality like Madina, should be rocking shoulders with some of the big municipalities in the country, but “what do we see abject poverty and lack of opportunities for the youth in the municipality”.
He explained that, Madina deserved better than what it was enjoying today adding, that a municipality that was adjudged the second best municipality in the District League Table for assessing Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies(MMDAs) in the country, should have more to show.
He noted instead, the people of the area, are wallowing in abject poverty and lack petty amenities that would only take a willing and capable leadership to lobby, to get done.
He said, the nature of bad leadership over the years, has led to a decline in the fortunes of the Constituency and made most of the electorate lose hope in the politician.
He said, the area lacked most of the amenities that would directly serve the needs and wants of the people.
He added that, the area has no hospital and getting a hospital established, would be one of his cardinal priorities and “I will not relent on that in office come 2017”.
It is a solemn pledge I am making to the good people of Madina, if you only trust me with your votes come November 7, 2016 parliamentary election.
