…He Defrauds Woman By False Pretence
From Alhaji Bashiru Zakari, Kumasi
The Kumasi Police are on the lookout for Mr. Michael Wiafe, 35, and a native of Konongo in the Asante Akim North Municipality for defrauding by false pretence.
Wiafe, is said to have collected an amount of GHc4,300.00 and 7,900 pounds from a Kumasi woman under the pretence of supplying her with a quantity of industrial oil, meant for powering the Bui Dam, but failed to do so.
ASP Yusif Tanko, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, indicated in a police extract that the suspect has since May this year gone into hiding.
Suspect Wiafe is believed to be hiding in and around Konongo, Koforidua and Accra.
In a statement issued on August 16, 2013, ASP Tanko said, efforts made by both the complainant and the police to trace the suspect have been in vain, hence the issue of an arrest warrant by a Kumasi Circuit Court for his arrest for false pretence.
ASP Tanko, appealed to members of the general public who have information about the whereabouts of the suspect to report it to the nearest police station or report to the Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Police Service for the necessary action.
The police have also cautioned the public to be wary of persons of suspicious conduct and advised them to report such characters to the police without delay.
The complainant has also offered a handsome reward for any person or persons who provide clues for the arrest of the suspect
