The Ghana Mine workers local Union, is asking President Akufo-Addo to sack the Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) with immediate effect
Dr. Kojo Opare Hammond, is accused of procurement breaches and engaged in sacking staff for no reason.
The staff, have threatened to deal with the Managing Director, if he comes to the office yesterday.
A petition was to be presented to the chairman of the mother Union, Ghana Mine workers Union, to be forwarded to the management of the company.
The local PMSU secretary for the Ghana Mine workers Union, Agnes Ayitey, said “we have condoned irregularities for quite too long.
Opare Hammond, came to this institution with his own management staff, which is not helping the company, he is flouting the administrative processes; he hand picks, and he promotes, if you don’t gossip to him, he doesn’t promote you, he has increased board allowances to 729percent, whiles he gives the staff 12percent per year. They have had 26 board meetings from January to yesterday.
He is also flouting procurement processes…we want him out, we have petition our mother body.”
However, in an interview with Joy Business, Dr. Opare Hammond, said he does not have the full facts of the case and he was waiting to get the petition from the workers.
He has, however, denied all the allegations.
